Sunday, December 12 - Pian di Noce (PI)
More than a race, a climb: dirt roads, winding, long, endless!
Be the first 300-400 meters short run (probably comunque troppo sostenuta per la pendenza) mi sono arreso a camminare.
Da Noce siamo arrivati quasi a S.Giovanni e quindi fin sotto laVerruca, gustandoci dei bellissimi panorami di tutta la piana: la foschia velava i centri cittadini, rischiarati qua e la da lame di luce che rompevano a tratti il cielo coperto, e da est a ovest spiccavano le pale eoliche di Pontedera, il corso sinuoso dell’Arno fino a Pisa, e piu’ in la il grattacielo e le ciminiere fumose di Livorno e –chiarissima- la Gorgona. Spettacolare.
Poi discesa vorticosa fino a Noce e qualche centinaio meters in plan to loosen the legs before the finish. A few technical notes: perfect temperature, perfect weather, very difficult path indexes and indicators for the race itself, among other things, much shorter (9.2 km) than the theoretical (12 km!).
But it always comes back as the food package and the usual rewarding satisfaction.
